Booking a therapy appointment online with your therapist takes a few minutes, and this guide walks through every step so you know what to expect. Your therapist gives you a booking link, usually their personal Serene page, and from there you pick a service, choose a time, enter your details, pay if there is a fee, and get a confirmation. Nothing here needs an account, so you can book straight from the link.
Your therapist shares a link to their Serene page. It might come by email, text, or a button on their website. Opening it shows their profile: their name, a short bio, the areas they work in, and the sessions you can book. If the link opens to a specific service already selected, that is fine, you can change it before you continue.
If you have booked with this therapist before, look for the option that says you are a returning client. Choosing it lets Serene recognize you so you do not have to re-enter everything, and it verifies your identity with a short code sent to your email.
The first thing you pick is the service, which is the type of session you want, for example an initial consultation or a standard session. Each service shows its length and its price, so you can see what you are booking and what it costs before going further.
Next you choose the date and time. Serene shows only the slots your therapist is actually available for, in your local time, so you will not accidentally pick a time they are already booked. Pick the day, then the time that works for you, and continue.
After the time, you fill in your information so your therapist knows who is booking and how to reach you. This usually includes your name, email, and phone number. The email matters most, because your confirmation and any follow-up messages go there, and it is also how you reach your private portal later.
If your therapist bills insurance and you plan to use it, this is where you are asked for your insurance details. If your therapist is self-pay only, you will not see insurance questions at all.
Some therapists ask you to complete an intake form as part of booking, or to upload a photo ID. If you see those, fill them in the same way. You can read more about forms in the guide on completing intake forms.
If the session has a fee, the last step before confirmation is payment. Serene shows the amount and takes the payment securely, so your booking is held the moment you pay rather than sitting unconfirmed while you sort out payment later. If the session is free, there is no payment step and you move straight to confirmation.
Once everything is done, you see a confirmation screen and receive a confirmation by email. Keep that email, because it has the details of your appointment and, for online sessions, the link you use to join.
Booking also gives you access to your own private space called the client portal, where your appointments, any forms, and documents your therapist shares all live in one place. You reach it any time from the find your portal page using the email you booked with.
If your plans change, you do not need to call to rebook. You can reschedule or cancel yourself from the link in your confirmation email, which is covered in the guide on managing your bookings.
